Classroom Transformations

This section will showcase the different transformations that I have created for my classroom.  Classroom transformations helps to provide an engaging classroom for the students.  The transformations also helps with classroom management.

Magic Tree House Classroom Theme

Second grade is a wonderful year to read the Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne.  My second graders loved sitting under the magic tree reading books and listening to me read to them.  At the beginning of every new unit in science or social studies we would all gather on the carpet and say those beginning words that Jack and Annie always said to start their adventure.  My students had fun twirling around pretending the magic tree was taking them to a new adventure.  If they mastered their skills during the unit, they earned a Magic Tree House book of their own!

How to Make the Magic Tree House for your own Classroom

I used a big round cardboard carpet roll for the base which I received free from a carpet store.  I purchased the rest of my items at Dollar Tree.  Swimming pool noodles were used for the tree limbs, brown packing paper for the tree trunk and green table clothes for the leaves.  To keep the tree sturdy, my husband hammered a wooden base on the base of the tree and the limbs were secured to the ceiling with string.
